Easy Air-Fryer Char Siu Pork
A foolproof char siu: pork belly simmered until tender, marinated overnight in char siu sauce, then roasted in the air fryer. Simple, almost impossible to get wrong, and perfect over rice.

Ingredients
- 1 slab of pork belly
- 2 tablespoons char siu sauce
- toasted white sesame seeds, as needed

Soak and rinse the pork belly as soon as you bring it home.

Simmer the pork with ginger slices and star anise until a chopstick slides in easily, then turn off the heat.

Lift the pork out of the pot.

Cut it as shown in the photo, taking care not to cut through the skin.

Coat evenly with the 2 tablespoons of char siu sauce and refrigerate overnight.

The next day, take it out and sprinkle white sesame seeds evenly over the top.

Air-fry at 200°C for about 15 minutes per side.

Simple and almost impossible to get wrong — this hands-off char siu is delicious and pairs wonderfully with rice.
